Join a Growing Community
The community around the open-source SobekCM software includes many institutions which take part in projects collaboratively hosted on the platform, as well as those institutions with their own dedicated instance. All of these institutions have utilized SobekCM in some capacity. This use ranges from simply utilizing the software as a hosting platform all the way to performing digital curation and allowing users to submit materials online.
At Sobek Digital, we foster this growth and support community efforts around the open-source software. In general, all custom development within the SobekCM system is contributed back to the code base, thus allowing the entire community to use each new development. We work closely with the community of users and customers to determine needs and ensure the system supports those needs. We will work with individual institutions and communities to partner on grants and help the system continue to grow to meet your needs.

More than a hundred institutions are now hosting materials in SobekCM digital repositories either individually or within collaborative projects. This software was originally born in central Florida and supports the collaborative Digital Library of the Caribbean, among others, so it will come as no surprise that many contributing institutions are in the eastern portion of the United States and the Caribbean. But we are also starting to have quite a presence in Europe, Hawaii, and southeast Asia.
